Shahada — Declaration of Faith
The testimony that there is no god worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad ﷺ is His Messenger. This is the entry point into Islam.
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ
Lā ilāha illallāh, Muhammadur Rasūlullāh

الصلاة
Salah — Prayer
Five daily prayers — Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, Isha — performed facing the Qibla. Ordained during Isra and Miraj. The connection between servant and Lord.
وَأَقِيمُوا الصَّلَاةَ وَآتُوا الزَّكَاةَ
Wa aqīmuṣ-ṣalāta wa ātuz-zakāh — Quran 2:43

الزكاة
Zakat — Obligatory Charity
2.5% of accumulated wealth above nisab given annually to the poor. Purifies wealth and builds brotherhood. One of the most emphasized acts in the Quran.
خُذْ مِنْ أَمْوَالِهِمْ صَدَقَةً تُطَهِّرُهُمْ
Khudh min amwālihim ṣadaqatan tuṭahhiruhum — Quran 9:103

الصوم
Sawm — Fasting (Ramadan)
Fasting from dawn to sunset throughout the month of Ramadan. Abstaining from food, drink, and intimate relations. Builds taqwa (God-consciousness) and gratitude.
يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الصِّيَامُ
Yā ayyuhā lladhīna āmanū kutiba alaykumuṣ-ṣiyām — Quran 2:183

الحج
Hajj — Pilgrimage
Annual pilgrimage to Makkah, obligatory once in a lifetime for those who are physically and financially able. The world's largest annual gathering of Muslims.
وَلِلَّهِ عَلَى النَّاسِ حِجُّ الْبَيْتِ مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ إِلَيْهِ سَبِيلًا
Wa lillāhi alan-nāsi ḥijjul-bayti manistaṭā'a ilayhi sabīlā — Quran 3:97

الإيمان بالله
Belief in Allah
Belief in the existence and oneness of Allah (Tawhid). He has no partners, children, or equals. He is the Creator and Sustainer of all.
قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ — Quran 112:1

الإيمان بالملائكة
Belief in Angels
Angels are created from light. They are obedient servants of Allah. Jibreel (Gabriel), Mikail, Israfil, and Munkar & Nakir are among the named angels.
لَّا يَعْصُونَ اللَّهَ مَا أَمَرَهُمْ — Quran 66:6

الإيمان بالكتب
Belief in Divine Books
Allah revealed scriptures to Prophets — Torah to Musa, Zabur to Dawud, Injeel to Isa, and the final Quran to Muhammad ﷺ. Only the Quran is preserved unchanged.
إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ — Quran 15:9

الإيمان بالرسل
Belief in the Prophets
Allah sent Prophets and Messengers to every nation. All delivered the same core message: worship Allah alone. Muhammad ﷺ is the last and final Prophet.
وَمَا مُحَمَّدٌ إِلَّا رَسُولٌ — Quran 3:144

الإيمان باليوم الآخر
Belief in the Last Day
Belief in death, resurrection (Qiyamah), judgement, and the final abodes of Jannah (Paradise) and Jahannam (Hellfire). Every soul will be held accountable.
فَمَن يَعْمَلْ مِثْقَالَ ذَرَّةٍ خَيْرًا يَرَهُ — Quran 99:7

الإيمان بالقدر
Belief in Divine Decree (Qadr)
Everything happens by Allah's knowledge and will. He knew what was, what is, and what will be. Humans have free will within the boundaries of Allah's decree.

Niyyah — Intention
Make the intention in your heart (not verbal) to perform the specific prayer. Face the Qibla (direction of Makkah).

تكبيرة الإحرام
Takbirat al-Ihram — Opening Takbir
Raise both hands to ear level and say the opening takbir to begin the prayer.
اللَّهُ أَكْبَرُ

القيام — قراءة الفاتحة
Qiyam — Recite Al-Fatiha + Surah
Stand upright, recite Surah Al-Fatiha (obligatory in every rakat), then recite any Surah from the Quran (in first two rakats).
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ ۝ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ...

Ruku — Bowing
Bow at the waist with back parallel to the ground, hands on knees. Glorify Allah 3+ times.
سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيمِ

الاعتدال
I'tidal — Standing After Ruku
Rise from bowing, stand upright, and say the Sami' Allah response.
سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ ۝ رَبَّنَا وَلَكَ الْحَمْدُ

السجود
Sujud — Prostration
Go to the ground — 7 body parts touching: forehead+nose, both palms, both knees, both feet. The closest position to Allah. Glorify 3+ times.

Sitting Between Prostrations
Sit briefly between the two prostrations and seek forgiveness.

التشهد والتسليم
Tashahhud & Tasleem — End of Prayer
In the final sitting: recite At-Tashahhud, then Salawat (blessings on Prophet ﷺ), then end with Tasleem — turning the head right and left.
السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ
